Hi,
Please make sure you have all prerequisites installed. The installer should check this for you, but maybe there is a bug...
You will need Word 2007, the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and "Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime 3.0" (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178739.aspx).

Please let me know if this solves the problem. If not, it will be great if you can send me some more infos, and maybe a detailed error message.

I am having the exact same problem. Word 2007 starts up and the Autohistory module is disabled. Office button > Word options > Com Addins dialog box says that Autohistory was not loaded because of an error during loading. Nothing else is mentioned. It sounds to me a lot like the problem antwade had.

All prerequisites are installed on my machine. Also, the installer reported no errors. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but to no avail.

The funny thing is that the first time I ran Word after installing, the module did appear! I even set up a global directory for keeping history documents. Could that have anything to do with the problem?

It's a pity because this should be a really useful addin... I would appreciate the help very much.

So, you downloaded the version with PIA included? On some machines the prerequisite check did not work correctly and so the Office PIA are missing.

If it worked the first time, then try to uninstall, reinstall, then try to restart your computer after the first word start. If the problem do not disappear, then go to the com addins dialog box and try to enable it manually. If it then fails, maybe you will get a more detailed error message. (Or see the event log of the computer for a more specific error message).

Post the error details and I will try to assist you in getting it to work.

Are you still working on AutoHistory? Did you find a solution to this?
I'm having a similar problem using AutoHistory on Windows 7; however, it works perfectly on my Windows XP computer.
I have the Office PIA, .Net Framework 3.5, and the Visual Studio Office Runtime 3.0 installed, yet I still get the runtime error on loading the addon.
Here's the generated error log from the Event Viewer.
AutoHistory was installed on the G: drive while the Windows 7 OS is on D: drive

Hi,

It seems, that it is not correctly installed, because the message says "file not found".

Have you tried to remove it from word/addIns, then uninstall it. Restart Word to see if its no longer visible in the addIns dialog.

Re-install it, and test it again.

I've reinstalled autoword, OfficePIA, and VSTO; but I still get the same error >.<

Do you think it's because  I have Office 2007 and Visio 2010 installed on the same machine?

When I try to run AutoHistory.vsto, I get a different but similar error message though

System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException: Reference in the manifest does not match the identity of the downloaded assembly AutoHistory.dll.

I think I'm going to give up...do you know any alternative with similar functionality?

Sorry, I really don't know, what the cause could be.

Maybe one, because I see the text "..of the downloaded assembly...": Have you installed it on a remote/network drive? Or in your roaming folder, which is located on a server? Then try to re-install in a local folder.

I don't know any other tools with similar functionality, sorry. But if I would know a tool, I've not re-written one ;-)
